James Mudge's Brass Top tables first caught our collective eyes at Ebony in Franschhoek where they had a 3M x 1M brass top table.. The amazing thing about these tables is that they are so dainty and look so frail but once you get up close and give them a wobble, they don't budge. I was very happy when James and Rose (who seems to be the right brain of the Mudge family) agreed to let us sell their products!
The James Mudge workshop is quite something to behold. These guys are making hundreds of tables a year, some of them 5M long chunks of Iroko that is 50-60mm thick and must weigh a ton or two. All in a tiny space, with a very small and obviously highly skilled compliment of staff.
Here are some shots I took there:
We have only brought over his amazing brass top tables in the first shipment, but hope to bring some of his awesome servers and bigger tables over early next year.
Well we have managed to fill up a 40ft container and are off in a couple of days.. Our suppliers have really pulled through by manufacturing everything in time for the ship. Next stop- USA
Today we landed - the fall in Westchester is unbelievably beautiful.. I can only imagine the springtime!
Our ship sails in a few weeks and then NestedNY will be in business.
The journey has begun! After months of preparation and debating on the products we need, we have started placing orders... It's so exciting to finally have some products on the way. Looking forward to our American adventure.
